| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing bust of Emperor Justinian I, helmeted and draped, rendered in the characteristic frontal Byzantine style. The helmet features a pronounced crest and lateral plumes visible at the sides, with a decorative beaded or crested brow. The emperor's facial features are presented in a schematic, hieratic manner typical of late antique provincial coinage from the Carthage mint. A paludamentum (military cloak) is indicated across the lower truncation of the bust. |
