Obverse description Nude youth on horseback riding to the right, the horse shown at a spirited canter with raised foreleg. The rider is depicted in a dynamic pose, wearing a crested helmet, and holds a spear or palm frond. The magistrate's initial delta (Δ) appears to the left in the field, with the partial legend of the magistrate's name rendered in Greek characters below or around the type. The composition reflects the refined engraving style characteristic of late Tarentine coinage.

Reverse description Phalanthos, the mythical founder of Tarentum, depicted nude and riding a dolphin to the left in a dynamic, vigorous pose. He extends his right arm forward while his left arm trails behind, conveying swift motion through the sea. A small figure of an owl or other symbol may appear in the field. The ethnic legend TAPAΣ is inscribed in the field, identifying the issuing city. The reverse engraving is characteristic of the high-quality artistic tradition of Tarentine silver coinage of the late period.
