Reverse description Five lines of Greek text filling the entire reverse field, reading the votive inscription naming the emperor Romanus Diogenes. The legend is arranged horizontally across the flan in large, clear Byzantine minuscule lettering. A cross precedes the first line of text at upper left. The coin is struck on an irregular flan typical of hammered Byzantine miliaresion coinage of the 11th century.
