Obverse description Standing helmeted allegorical figure of Roma in high relief, depicted on the prow of a warship sailing over waves, her left arm extended holding a torch or small Victory figure, her right hand grasping a legionary standard topped with military insignia. A she-wolf on a pedestal appears in the mid-field to the right. Engravers' signatures incuse along the hull of the ship in the lower field.

Reverse description Radiant sun with alternating straight and wavy rays occupies the upper portion of the field. Below, a five-line Latin inscription from Horace is separated by a horizontal rule from a two-line dedicatory inscription in the lower field. A small numeral appears in the exergue beneath the lower text.
