Obverse description Three-quarter length effigy of Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa (1888–1935), depicted wearing a suit, bow tie, and wide-brimmed hat, holding a pen, adapted from the design of the Banco de Portugal 100 Escudos banknote (Ch.9). The name FERNANDO PESSOA and birth/death dates 1888–1935 appear in the field to the left and upper right, with the denomination 100 CEM ESCUDOS and series Ch.9 inscribed to the right. Designer and sculptor signatures PAES FERREIRA Del. and F. COUTO Esc. are visible in the lower field.
