Reverse description The full heraldic coat of arms of the Free Royal City of Karlovac occupies the field in high relief. The oval shield is divided into three quarters: upper left bears the chequered arms of Croatia, upper right displays two crossed anchors, and the lower half depicts a landscape with the fortified city between two rivers beneath a sun and crescent. A small escutcheon in the centre of the main shield bears the initials of Emperor Joseph II. The achievement is surmounted by a civic crown, and two merman supporters flank the shield on either side, their scaled tails curling at the base.
