Obverse description Central device depicts a turreted Gothic castle with three towers, the central tower being the tallest and surmounted by a crown, rendered in the characteristic medieval Castilian style. The castle is set on a horizontal baseline, with the gateway arch visible at the base of the central tower. A circular Latin legend surrounds the device within a beaded border, reading ENRICVS REX CASTELLE. The field is flat and the overall strike is typical of hammered billon coinage of the period, with some weakness at the irregular flan edges.
