Obverse description Irregular hammered flan bearing the stylized effigy of Daikoku, the god of wealth, rendered in compact relief at center. The figure is depicted in characteristic seated posture with attributes, executed in a bold, abbreviated pictographic style typical of Edo-period mameitagin. The kanji character 文 (bun), denoting the Genbun era, appears prominently within or adjacent to the Daikoku motif, serving as an era-mark authenticating the issue. The surface is uneven and convex, consistent with the bean-shaped hammered silver coinage of the Tokugawa shogunate.
