Reverse description The reverse depicts the emperor standing facing, in military dress, holding a labarum (chi-rho standard) in his right hand and a globe surmounted by a Victory in his left hand, representing Roman imperial dominion. A captive or kneeling barbarian figure is shown at the emperor's feet, symbolising the subjugation of Rome's enemies. The encircling legend GLORIA ROMANORVM proclaims the glory of the Roman people, while the mint mark SMNA in the exergue identifies the first officina of the Nicomedia mint. The flan is irregular with green patination and moderate wear obscuring some fine detail.
