The composition is rendered in high relief with careful attention to the feathering of the wings and the sinuous body of the serpent below. The partial ethnic legend ΑΚΡΑ appears in Greek characters along the upper field, arcing above the eagle. The design reflects the characteristically bold and naturalistic engraving tradition of late fifth-century Sicilian coinage. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | A crab depicted in full frontal view, rendered in crisp high relief with both claws raised symmetrically and all ambulatory legs splayed to either side, conveying a lively naturalistic quality typical of Akragantine coinage. The carapace is detailed with stippled texture, and the facial features of the crab are clearly articulated. Below the crab, in the lower field, appears the single Greek letter Α, serving as a denomination or control mark. The crab was the longstanding civic badge of Akragas and appears prominently on the city's coinage throughout the classical period. |
