Reverse description A crab depicted in full frontal view, its carapace centrally placed and rendered with naturalistic detail, the eight legs splayed symmetrically to either side and the two claws raised in the upper field. Below the crab, a Punic inscription in three characters is arranged along the lower exergual area of the flan, serving as a civic ethnic identifying Motya. The design is boldly struck and fills the available flan.
