| Obverse description | Central field depicts a frontal architectural motif resembling a stylized church facade or gateway, flanked by two tall towers or columns, rendered in the crude but vigorous Romanesque hammered style characteristic of early 12th-century Bavarian bracteate-related coinage. A seated or enthroned figure, likely representing the duke or a bishop, appears within the arcade, holding what may be a sceptre or staff. The surrounding field bears a partial circular border, with fragmentary and largely illegible Latin legend disposed around the periphery. The flan is irregular and shows typical hammered stress cracks and surface oxidation consistent with medieval Regensburg mint production. Star or pellet ornaments are visible in the upper field adjacent to the architectural device. |
