Obverse description Central device depicts an armored equestrian figure — the Tsar or St. George — mounted on a horse facing right, brandishing a spear or lance downward toward a serpent or fallen foe beneath the horse's hooves, rendered in the characteristically bold and stylized relief of early Romanov wire money. The flan is irregular in outline, typical of the chekanka (wire-cut) production method, with the design occupying the majority of the available field. The mint mark 'о М' (denoting the Moscow Mint) appears in the field. The striking is moderately well-centered for this issue, with the equestrian motif clearly legible despite the uneven planchet surface.
