Obverse description Equestrian effigy of the Tsar depicted as an armoured horseman, galloping to the right, lance couched in his right hand. The figure is rendered in a stylised, archaic manner characteristic of early Romanov wire money. The mint initials 'о М' appear in the field beneath the horse's hooves, serving as a mintmark for the Moscow Mint. The design occupies the entirety of the irregular flan, with portions of the legend occasionally visible at the periphery depending on die placement.
