| Obverse description | Obverse depicts a mounted warrior — the traditional equestrian figure of the Russian kopeck — shown in right profile astride a horse, brandishing a lance or spear diagonally upward toward the upper field. The flan is of irregular, roughly oval shape characteristic of wire-money (cheshuyка) production, struck on a small, hand-cut silver blank. The die is deeply impressed, rendering the horseman in bold, stylised relief typical of early Romanov hammered coinage. No border or legend appears on this face; the entire field is occupied by the equestrian device. The surfaces show natural flan irregularities and flow lines consistent with hand-hammer striking technique. |
