| Reverse description | Reverse bears a multi-line Cyrillic inscription filling the entire field, reading across four to five lines in the characteristic abbreviated titulature of the Muscovite wire-money series. The legend proclaims the full royal title of Tsar Boris Feodorovich Godunov as sovereign of All Rus, rendered in archaic Church Slavonic Cyrillic letterforms. The text is arranged in horizontal registers across the irregular oval flan, with letters of varying size adapted to fit the planchet. Characteristic of the period, ligatures and abbreviated word forms are employed throughout. The flan edges are uneven and show the typical irregular outline of wire-cut silver planchets. |
