Obverse description Christ Pantokrator enthroned facing on a lyre-backed throne, depicted with nimbus cruciger, clad in pallium and colobium; the right hand raised in Greek benediction while the left hand supports the Gospels. The sacred monogram IC-XC (Iesus Christus) is inscribed in the field on either side of the nimbus, flanking the figure symmetrically. The design is rendered in the refined Byzantine hieratic style characteristic of Komnenian court art, with bold relief contrasting the concave scyphate flan.
