| Obverse description | Nimbate frontal bust of Christ Pantokrator occupying the central field, holding the Book of Gospels in both hands. The sacred monogram IC XC flanks the figure on either side, while a circular legend commencing at the lower left reads + K E R θ A Λ E S. The portrait is rendered in the formal hieratic style characteristic of middle Byzantine coinage, with the cruciform nimbus behind the head emphasizing the divine nature of the subject. |

| Reverse description | Full-length standing figure of Saint Demetrios at left, depicted in military attire and facing right, holding an upright sword in his left hand and extending a patriarchal cross toward Emperor Alexios I Komnenos at right. The emperor stands in three-quarter view, crowned and arrayed in the imperial loros, receiving the cross in a gesture of divine investiture. Vertical legends flank each figure, reading top to bottom: Δ I M I T at left and Δ Є C Π I T at right, identifying both saint and sovereign. The composition follows the established Byzantine type of imperial legitimation through saintly intercession. |
