Reverse description The emperor Constantine X Doukas (Ducas) depicted standing facing in full-length, bearded, and robed in imperial loros and crown. He stands upon a low jewelled footstool and holds in his right hand a long labarum staff, the shaft adorned with a pellet, and in his left hand a globus cruciger surmounted by a cross. The composition follows established Byzantine imperial iconographic tradition, presenting the emperor as the earthly counterpart to the divine image on the obverse. A Greek legend in the field identifies the emperor by name and title.
