Obverse description Christ Pantokrator enthroned facing, nimbed and robed in imperial loros, seated upon a jewelled throne with footstool, raising his right hand in a gesture of benediction and holding the Gospels in his left hand. The inscription IC XC flanks the figure in the upper field, with the sacred monogram divided to either side of the nimbus. The design is rendered in the characteristic Byzantine scyphate style with strong relief on the concave flan.
