Reverse description A centrally placed octopus rendered frontally, its bulbous mantle depicted vertically in the centre of the field, with eight tentacles radiating outward and curling at their tips. The two uppermost tentacles are entwined or crossed, creating a characteristic interlaced motif frequently observed on Syracusan bronze hemilitра of this series. The tentacles fill the flan with a dynamic, organic composition, leaving little open field. No legend or exergue line is present.
