| Reverse description | The forepart of Pegasos, the winged horse of Greek mythology, is depicted in energetic left-facing profile, with its forelegs raised and powerful wings spread upward and to the right, rendered with fine feather detail. The muscular neck and mane are carefully articulated by the die engraver, conveying motion and vitality characteristic of the Syracusan coinage of this period. A six-pointed star appears prominently in the upper field above the figure, serving as a control mark or divine symbol. The reverse field is otherwise plain, allowing the bold relief of Pegasos to dominate the flan. No legend or additional inscription accompanies the type. |
