| Obverse description | Helmeted head of Athena facing right, rendered in archaic Greek style. The goddess wears a crested Attic helmet with a prominent raised crest decorated with closely set ridges, a cheekpiece, and a neck guard. The facial features are rendered with fine detail, exhibiting the characteristic almond-shaped eye and stylized hair locks curling beneath the helmet brim. The flan is irregular and the relief is moderately high, consistent with hand-hammered coinage of the late fifth century BC. |
