Kherei ruled the Lycian dynastic seat at Tlos in the late fifth and early fourth centuries BC, operating in the fractious space between Achaemenid Persian suzerainty and the persistent autonomy that Lycian dynasts managed to maintain through careful political positioning. His coinage follows the Lycian weight standard — a system distinct from both the Aeginetan and Attic standards and native to this southwestern Anatolian region, suggesting the mint operated with genuine local administrative independence rather than simply echoing Persian monetary policy.
