Obverse description Facing three-quarter bust of Helios, the radiate solar deity, rendered in high relief with characteristic wild, disheveled hair from which solar rays emanate in all directions. The face is depicted with fine Hellenistic artistry, exhibiting strong, idealized features with slightly parted lips and a gaze directed slightly to the right. The flan fills almost entirely with this large, bold effigy, which is characteristic of Rhodian coinage of the period. No legend or inscription appears on the obverse.
