| Obverse description | Facing head of Helios, the sun god, rendered in high relief at centre of the flan. The effigy displays the characteristic three-quarter facing position, with tousled, flowing hair and prominent radiating sun rays fanning outward in all directions around the head. The modelling is bold and expressive, typical of Rhodian coinage of the late Hellenistic period, with deeply struck facial features including large eyes, a straight nose, and slightly parted lips. The field is otherwise plain, with no legend. |
