Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena in right profile, rendered in the archaic-to-classical Athenian style characteristic of the so-called 'owl' coinage. The goddess wears a close-fitting Attic helmet with a raised crest, beneath which thick, carefully rendered hair curls fall along the neck. The eye is depicted frontally in the archaic convention, set within a finely modeled face with a delicate nose and slightly parted lips. The cheek and neck musculature are well articulated, reflecting the high standard of Athenian die-engraving of the Classical period.
