| Reverse description | A horse portrayed in left profile, lowering its body in the act of preparing to lie down or roll, with head inclined downward and forelegs bent. The animal is rendered with characteristic Thessalian vigor, its mane finely detailed. The ethnic legend is divided, with ΤΩΝΙΩΝ appearing in the upper field and ΓΥΡ in the lower exergual area, all within a dotted border on an irregular flan. |

| Additional information |
Gyrton was a minor Thessalian city on the Peneios River, and its coinage output was limited enough that examples appear rarely even in specialized Thessalian sales. The BCD collection — assembled by a single anonymous collector whose Thessalian holdings remain the deepest private accumulation ever sold — is the primary reference point for attributing these issues, given how seldom they surface for study.
