| Beschrijving keerzijde | A kantharos with two prominent loop handles is depicted in the centre of a shallow incuse square, surmounted by a grape cluster rendered as a group of pellets above the rim of the vessel. A club is shown to the upper left of the kantharos, and an axe (pelekys) appears to the left. The ethnic legend ΘEB is distributed around the base of the kantharos — Θ to the lower left, E centrally below, and B to the lower right — identifying the issuing city of Thebes. The composition is crisp and well-centred, with the incuse square border framing all design elements in the manner characteristic of early-to-mid Classical Boeotian silver coinage. |
