Obverse description Female head in left profile, rendered in fine archaic Greek style with subtly modelled facial features. The hair is elaborately dressed, bound with a diadem or sphendone and falling in a beaded plait behind the ear. Beneath the bust, a tunny fish is depicted horizontally — the civic emblem of Kyzikos — serving as the principal identifying device of this mint. The relief is high and crisply struck, the surface retaining the characteristic warm golden hue of the electrum alloy.
