| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing gorgoneion (Gorgon's head) depicted en face in high relief, rendered in the archaic style with broad, grimacing visage, wide-set eyes, and a protruding tongue. The head is framed by a wreath of coiling serpents, their undulating bodies encircling the entire design field. The treatment is characteristic of the bold, apotropaic imagery favoured by Phokaian die-engravers of the late Archaic period. |
