| Reverse description | A quadripartite incuse square dominates the reverse, divided into four recessed compartments of roughly equal size by two perpendicular raised ridges meeting at the centre, creating a windmill or swastika-like pattern of alternating raised and sunken sections. This deeply struck incuse design is characteristic of early Greek electrum coinage and served both as a technical aid in striking and as a means of assaying the metal content of the flan. The surface within each quadrant shows hammer-faceted texture typical of the archaic hammered technique. No legend or additional device is present. |
