Obverse description Cyrillic inscription filling the field in multiple horizontal lines, reading the title and name of Grand Prince Vasily. The legend is rendered in early medieval Muscovite Cyrillic script across the flan, without a surrounding border. The lettering is boldly struck in relief against a flat field, typical of early fifteenth-century Muscovite wire-money coinage technique.
