Reverse description Central field displays the stylised Genoese castle (gateway with two towers), rendered in a bold, schematic manner within a quadrilobe (quatrefoil) border adorned with small trefoil or cross ornaments at each lobe junction. A mintmark letter appears beneath the gateway. The quadrilobe is enclosed by a beaded inner circle, with the circular Latin legend in uncial script running in the outer margin. The reverse type conforms to the standard Genoese grosso reverse design invoking the nominal suzerainty of the Holy Roman Emperor Conrad.
