| Beschrijving voorzijde | A rampant lion facing left occupies the central field, rendered in the late medieval Gothic style characteristic of Brabantine coinage. Upon the lion's chest is superimposed the quartered shield of Burgundy-Brabant, a heraldic device identifying the issuing dynasty. The figure is set within a beaded inner circle, with the ducal legend running in uncial Gothic lettering around the outer border. The irregular flan and bold hammered relief are typical of early fifteenth-century Low Countries billon issues. |
