| 正面描述 | Crowned bust of Alfonso IV facing left, rendered in the Gothic style typical of medieval Catalan coinage. The king wears an ornate floral crown with prominent points, and flowing hair is visible beneath. The effigy is contained within an inner beaded circle, with the Latin legend disposed in the annular field between the inner and outer beaded borders. The portrait displays characteristic medieval stylization, with schematic facial features and a draped neckline. |

Alfonso IV of Aragon — Alfonso V to the Aragonese, known to history as "el Magnànim" — spent the bulk of his reign not in Catalonia but in Naples, which he seized in 1442 after nearly fifteen years of intermittent campaigning. The Principality continued striking in his name throughout his absence, making these groats a mundane fixture of Catalan commerce while their nominal issuer governed a Mediterranean empire from a foreign court. He never returned to the Iberian peninsula after 1432.
