| Reverse description | Highly stylised Celtic horse facing right, rendered in the distinctive Whaddon Chase manner, with a disproportionately large, prominently rendered ear and front hooves depicted as splayed, paw-like forms. The tail is reduced to a single curvilinear line extending behind the animal. A wing motif occupies the upper field above the horse, while a large isolated pellet appears below in the lower field, and a coffee-bean shaped pellet-and-arc device is placed behind the horse's haunches. The design is uninscribed and entirely geometric-figurative in character, executed in the bold, abstract style typical of Late Iron Age British gold coinage. |
