| Obverse description | Devolved wreath design in the La Tène Celtic tradition, composed of stylised curved foliage rendered as a series of flowing arcs and scrolls across the flan. A horizontal bar bisects the field, terminating at each end in a crescent whose interior is filled with a ring of pellets. The design is highly abstract, derived ultimately from the laureate head of Apollo on earlier Macedonian prototypes, but reduced to its essential geometric and ornamental elements. |
