Reverse description A large floriated cross with trefoil terminals occupies the central field, its four arms embellished with fleurs-de-lis and crowned ornaments at each extremity, evoking the cross motif standard to the écu type. The quadrants formed by the cross arms are filled with intricate Gothic foliage and small heraldic devices. A beaded inner circle frames the central cross design, separating it from the peripheral legend. The circumferential inscription in Gothic lettering carries the Christus vincit acclamation, a traditional apotropaic formula on medieval gold coinage of the Low Countries.
