Reverse description A plain Latin cross centered within a quatrefoil formed by four cusped arches, each lobe terminating in a fleur-de-lis at its junction, creating an elegant lilied quatrefoil frame. The composition is contained within a beaded inner circle, beyond which a Gothic legend in uncial characters runs continuously around the outer field. The overall design reflects the late medieval French-influenced monetary tradition prevalent in the Kingdom of Navarre during the joint reign of John III and Catherine I.
