| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central crowned heraldic shield bearing the quartered arms of Navarre and Évreux, surmounted by an elaborate crown. The escutcheon is flanked on either side by crowned Gothic initial J's, referencing the issuer John II. A circular legend in uncial Gothic lettering runs along the periphery within a beaded inner border, the whole struck on a characteristically irregular hammered flan. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
John II of Aragon — king of Navarre by marriage to Blanche I, then by force after her death in 1441 — issued coinage in Navarre throughout a reign defined by dynastic conflict. His son Charles of Viana, the legitimate heir by Navarrese succession law, was repeatedly imprisoned by John, triggering a civil war that fractured the kingdom through the 1450s and 1460s. Coinage struck during these decades circulated through a territory actively contested between factions loyal to John and those backing Charles, then later his sister Eleanor.
The long date range of this type reflects interrupted and resumptive minting rather than continuous production.
