| Obverse description | Central crowned heraldic shield bearing the quartered arms of Navarre and Évreux, surmounted by an elaborate crown. The escutcheon is flanked on either side by crowned Gothic initial J's, referencing the issuer John II. A circular legend in uncial Gothic lettering runs along the periphery within a beaded inner border, the whole struck on a characteristically irregular hammered flan. |
