| Beschrijving voorzijde | Highly stylised and abstracted rendering of a human head derived from the classical Macedonian stater prototype, reduced to a series of bold curved and linear elements in high relief against a plain hammered gold field. A prominent central motif suggestive of a palm frond or fan-shaped hair feature dominates the flan, flanked by sweeping curved lines representing facial contours. The design is characteristic of the Late Iron Age Celtic artistic tradition, in which naturalistic Hellenistic imagery has been progressively transformed into near-geometric abstract forms. No legend or inscription is present. The flan is irregular in outline with an uneven surface consistent with hand-struck production. |
