| Beschrijving voorzijde | Highly stylised Celtic wreath motif rendered in the abstracted La Tène artistic tradition, with a pellet-in-ring device at the centre serving as the focal point. Three double crescents are arranged below the central motif, flanked by curvilinear decorative elements. Stylised hair or leaf forms appear in the upper field, framing the composition. The entire design is executed with characteristic Celtic abstraction, with no inscriptions or legends present. The flan is irregular in shape, typical of the hand-struck quarter stater denomination. |

The Trinovantes occupied what is now Essex and southern Suffolk, and were among the most politically significant tribes in pre-Roman Britain — Julius Caesar extracted hostages from them during his second expedition in 54 BC and recognized their autonomy against Catuvellauni pressure. The fractional staters of this period likely functioned as elite exchange currency tied to gift-giving and reciprocal obligation rather than everyday commerce, which partly explains why so many survive without meaningful wear.
ABC 2365 is a relatively scarce variety within the broader Trinovantian quarter stater series.
