| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field bearing multiple lines of Arabic religious and dynastic legend in Kufic script, arranged horizontally within a plain inner circle. The inscriptions are characteristic of early Islamic epigraphic coinage, presenting the shahada or related formulae in angular Kufic lettering. An outer marginal legend in Arabic script runs around the circumference, partially visible due to the irregular flan. The striking is characteristic of hammered provincial coinage, with uneven surfaces and die shift evident across the flan. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The Sulaymanids were a brief and poorly-documented branch of the Hamdanid precursors ruling in the Jazira during a period of Abbasid fragmentation, and coins attributable to Yahya b. Muhammad are among the rarest survivals from this micro-dynasty. Fractional dirhams of this type were likely struck to meet local small-denomination needs rather than for broad circulation, which explains both the low weight and the extreme scarcity of surviving examples.
