Obverse description Two emperors stand facing in three-quarter length, Constantine V at left with beard and Leo IV at right beardless, each crowned and clad in chlamys, holding an akakia across the chest. A cross appears between their heads in the upper field. Greek legends appear vertically to the left and right of the imperial effigies, identifying each ruler by name. The composition reflects the dynastic co-regency format characteristic of mid-eighth-century Byzantine coinage from the Syracuse mint.
