SALVS REIPVBLICAE bronzes of this period were struck in enormous quantities across multiple eastern mints as Theodosius I consolidated control following the defeat and death of Magnus Maximus in 388. Arcadius, elevated to co-Augustus at age six in 383, was nominally the issuing authority here while his father held actual power. Thessalonica was one of the most active mints of the eastern empire during this window, producing issues for all three members of the Theodosian dynasty simultaneously.
