Obverse description Facing bust of Christ Pantokrator depicted in high relief at center, nimbed with a cruciform nimbus, robed in imperial garments. The right hand is raised in a gesture of benediction while the left hand holds the Gospels. The Christogram abbreviation IC XC appears in the fields to either side of the effigy. The flan is irregular and the relief, typical of the debased Comnenian-era anonymous folles, is bold but somewhat crude in execution.
