| Beschrijving keerzijde | A large stylised fleur-de-lis occupies the centre of the reverse field, rendered in the bold Florentine Gothic manner with three prominent lobes and foliate scrollwork at the base; a small heraldic shield or device surmounts the central stem at the top. Annulets or pellets are distributed symmetrically around the motif as decorative stops. The circumferential Latin legend reads ARAGO REX AL, denoting Alfonso V, King of Aragon, with letter groups separated by pellets. |

Alfonso V of Aragon — called "the Magnanimous" by contemporaries — spent so much of his reign campaigning in Italy that he effectively governed his Aragonese territories by correspondence from Naples after 1432, where he remained until his death in 1458. Valencia's mint continued striking florins in his name throughout this absence, making the coinage of his reign a product of a kingdom whose king had not set foot on Iberian soil for decades.
The Valencian florin followed the weight standard established by Florence, adopted across the Crown of Aragon by Pedro IV in 1346.
