| Obverse description | Full-length facing figure of Saint John the Baptist, robed in flowing drapery, raising his right hand in benediction and holding an attribute in his left hand, standing on a plain field. A shield bearing the arms of Aragon appears to the left of the figure. The surrounding Latin legend reads S IOHANNES B, identifying the patron saint. The strike is characteristic of hammered medieval goldsmith work, with slightly irregular flan edges. |
